Smudge unwell...

Well I noticed Smudge (Rabbit) went straight back to bed after I let him out this morning. He hadn't eaten much of his food either and he is usually a very greedy rabbit. I brought him into the house and he has a very swollen backend (private bits) I bathed him, and dried him and gave him some antibiotic drops that I have in. He seems much happier and is hopping round the house. He is now eating and seems quite comfortable lying beside the radiator The cats are confused and keep going up to him as if to say what you doing in here

Off to the vets tomorrow if these ab's don't start to work. Must keep an eye that he is pooing normally too. Fingers crossed that I caught it in time although I wonder what has caused it?? neither of them have ever suffered with anything like this before

Poor Smudge! Good job you spotted it so quickly. Whatever it was obviously was making him feel poorly. Let us know how he is.

He is layed infront of a radiator at the minute. He has eaten some of his rabbit food and had a cabbage leaf and drinking out of the cat bowl, so is obviously feeling better. I will check his bits and pieces when I give him his antibiotics later. Have just been putting extra bedding in his hutch as he will feel the cold more today when he goes to bed with being in the house beside a radiator

Re: Smudge unwell...

Could you give him a hot water bottle wrapped in an old towel or something?

Yes I was thinking I would do that Jac...Just lukewarm as I know how rabbits can bite through things and scratch at things and I wouldn't want a risk of him burning himself

I did consider keeping him inside but tbh I think he would be happier in his own bed..
