Drumming up trade

I am a little excited. We have a woman who comes into our shop, she is a bird breeder and part of the Parrot rescue up here. She has loads of birds from macaws to ducks. She is very interesting to talk to and I always pick her brains when she comes in.
Any way we got talking today and I was telling her of my plan to set myself up as a pet sitter and that I would like to learn more about the birds so that I could encorporate them into my business. She reckons that is a good idea as the existing pet sitters here mainly deal with dogs and cats.
I asked her if she would give me some hands on training with her birds and she said yes because she cannt find any one to look after her birds so that she can get a holiday.
I said give me training and I'll do it.
You dont ask, you dont get.

The woman is loaded and the birds are in a MASSIVE aviary. Her aviary is bigger than my house

That's exciting news!! I'd never actually thought about birds needing sitters, but of course they would! A niche just waiting to be exploited.....(parrrots scare me a bit too...)

Re: Drumming up trade

TBH I am nervous of their beaks and dont like them flying around me but I guess these things can be over come once you know how to handle them properly.
I really hope she does take me up on it and wasnt just saying that coz I'd love it. I really enjoy learning about animals although I dont think I'll ever get over my fear of snakes

Brave old you!!! I'd cross the road to avoid a pigeon Bird-sitting is my idea of hell on a stick

But it's a good USP in terms of your sitting business - the broader the scope of your offering the better the chance of success
