Small break-thru with Onyx

She took some food from my hand today! I'm having ham and cabbage for dinner tonight; took a small piece of ham out with her plate and tin of food this afternoon...held out the ham and she came right up to me, sniffed and took it! Backed off slightly with it in her teeth and then chomped it down! I tried that about 2 months ago with a piece of chicken, but she wouldn't take it from me...a small thing, really, but I feel it's a good sign (for those who don't know, Onyx is a black stray, very very shy and wary of people that I've been feeding)

That's brilliant Eileen, she is gradually gaining more confidence ..... hopefully by Spring she will be purring and rubbing against your legs

She certainly knows where to go for her dinner now!

Brilliant DM, she is gaining trust everyday, won't be long before she is snuggled up in front of the fire...

Good old Onyx, getting braver by the day . You must be chuffed to bits, I know I would be .

Indeed I am chuffed! Think we're quite a way from ankle-rubbing, but it's a start..

That's fantastic news Eileen. It can take so long for a frightened animal to show trust again, but once you earn that trust you have it for life, and I think you are well on the way to having that!!

That's great! Ham is often an ice-breaker or appetite tempter .... have to buy more!
