Volunteers cat

One of the volunteers cat's is really ill. Was talking to her today at the rescue and basically, she's not happy with a certain vet. He works at the larger animal hospital (in Hull - partner to the one I use for Dylan) but her cat has a disintegrating spine and he's having to be on morphine every 3 hours she keeps urging her vet to PTS but for some reason best known to himself he won't. He's given their cat an MRI scan but then gone on holiday before the results came back. James (the vet we see) he got the results but couldn't understand them so has taken them to a specialist. At the moment they're waiting for the specialist's verdict. The volunteer keeps saying to the vets that she wants Malcolm (her cat) PTS. She's got the receptionist lady to have a word with James but don't yet know the outcome.

I'll keep you all update more as and when I hear more . Don't know much about Malcolm apart from the fact he's an old boy.

I realy feel sorry for Malcom. I would say in this instance the owner knows what is right for her cat.

That is just sooo very sad, poor girl and poor Malcolm. Sounds like a very distressing situation and I hope she and Malcolm get a resolve soon xxx

It does sound like in this instance the owner knows best. However, it's only fair that the vet is allowed to have the full facts before he recommends such a course of action.

I hope this gets resolved soon for all concerned.

What I forgot to mention is that if Malcolm doesn't get his morphine he starts screaming in pain, he can't walk properly anyway so I think the owner is probably right

aww.. poor Malcolm that is really sad.
It must be horrible to see him in so much pain.

I know, I can understand why she wants him PTS, I'd be doing that if it was Dylan in so much pain with a crumbling spine

I've not met him but his owner was saying that normally he's really friendly

He's back at home now, but for how long we don't know.

The volunteer has medication for him now to put on his gums, apparently he must not swallow it but they are having difficulty preventing him from swallowing it (it goes on his gums)

Poor Malcolm.

This must be very distressing for him and your friend.I hope it gets sorted soon.

I'd like to know the vet's reasoning for putting this poor cat through all this. Blood boiling a bit here.
