feeling sad

I have just been crying buckets just reading a couple of the posts here - it brings back memories for me that I try to forget - but it also reminds of something that a spiritualist once said to me - don't know if it will help any-one else but it kinda helps me

when a baby (people or animal) is born here on earth we are all happy and celebrating
in the spirit world they are sad and crying
when that life is over here on earth we are sad and crying
but in the spirit world they are happy and celebrating
because that life has come home

Re: feeling sad

Sorry you are feeling sad Emm.
It is the other side of the coin of pet-ownership, isn't it?

If you don't want to go down the spiritualist path (which I personally have a little difficulty with) you can verbalise the thought with my husband's philosophy of life (don't know if it's his originally or if he found it somewhere)

"You pick up one end of the stick, you pick up the other too"

So, you find someone in life who you love and cherish and want to be with forever.......and they snore, or have smelly feet, or laugh horribly, or have a horrible mother or whatever.... you want the good, sorry, it comes as a package with the not so good.
You want children..............the most wonderful thing ever, but so many minus points I couldn't even start
You want to walk on sun kissed sand in the Maldives......you have a long scary flight to get there
You want (hopefully) lots of happy years with your pets........you have to accept their lives are shorter than ours.

Don't be sad Emm, be happy for the good times. x

Re: feeling sad

There have been a few sad days here on Catpages. I too have cried many a tear over pets that I have never met. Understand how you are feeling Emma. I think we are all feeling the same.

We just have to accept, and carry on.

Re: feeling sad

I don't think it helps that two other forums I go on people have had to put their cats to sleep, also it reminds me of last year when I had to have Lucy put to sleep

I know this is for the best when they are not very well, doesn't make it easier reading though

The circle of life. *sigh*

It's full of sadness and of joy and as DM says - you take the rough with the smooth.

Re: feeling sad

It just goes to show how friendly Catpages is, we all feel the hurt and sorrow of fellow members. I nearly lost Cassie this time last year and with the support and comfort of people on here I got through Christmas.....
