What are the requirements for fostering?

I recently moved to Sussex from the US. While in the States, one of my cats went missing and, as a result, I ended up spending a bit of time volunteering at the city animal shelter (mostly just dangling strings in front of moggies to keep them socialized). However, I never got clearance to be a fosterer -- it required city approval and an inspection and all kinds of grief.

Does anyone know if there are specific national standards to be met here? Or does it vary from shelter to shelter?

I'm not sure I can stand to get involved again -- I'm such a slop-bag, every unwanted kitty was a dagger to my heart. But they almost lost some kittens because all the registered fosterers were full up, so I promised myself I'd look into it after the move.

Re: What are the requirements for fostering?

Think it varies...I foster for the local CP , and all I really needed is space in house for kittens....and experience of cats of course...
