Thanks for the link Eileen, it does seem strange though that they are allowed in some parts but not in others. They look such pretty little animals too!

Thanks for this link, Dandysmom. It explained this law, even though it does seem a bit peculiar!

Look forward to seeing photos of your ferret (s)? Tink. Some people in this country keep what I believe are called polecat ferrets that look like little bandits! I find these particularly attractive, faces a bit like raccoons (which I also like). Lucky you!

Raccoons make adorable pets when they're little, incredibly smart and inquisitive, but turn bad tempered when the reach sexual maturity, so not recommended as pets...Illegal in many places. There is a marvellous book by a Canadian author with the odd name of Farley Mowat about a boy and his pet raccoon..can't think of the name of it now but will look it up and post. Anyone who loves animals and reading would surely enjoy it!

Re: kinda excited....

*fingers crossed for approval in adoption process*

closest ferret rescue is one hour away...but i would love to rescue rather than buy retail...it just seems silly not to...
if this shelter does not approve us the next closest is about two hours drive...sigh..the things i do for rescue..LOL.
my bday is the 14th..i hope i have them by then....
