Camel crickets!

Do you have these wretched insects in the UK? I keep my birdseed in the bag on the front porch so I have it handy to fill the container. Yesterday afternoon I was pouring some into the tin I use and a large camel cricket jumped out of the bag, scaring the wits out of me! They're perfectly harmless, but look so much like spiders that it's not funny! And it disappeared somewhere on the porch, and naturally Leia wasn't there to catch it for me! Yuck!!!!

Re: Camel crickets!

I've never seen one like that Eileen! We do get crickets - I am not sure which species though and grasshoppers. In a usual summer, I have to save quite a few young grasshoppers from the house and pop them outside. I like them, they are bright green and only small. This year, I think I have only seen one or two.
