Am I being a Grump?

I am sick to death with kids adverts on the TV. They are constant, one after the other for Toys!
Ceilidh keeps seeing things and saying Oh Mum I would really like that! Agghhh Santa doesn't have time for kids changeing there minds!
The adverts on cable are the worse. They start about October.

Does anyone else get cross with them?

I used to feel exactly the same way as you when my children were small Jac. It doesn't affect me so much these days but I do remember getting so angry at advert after advert and the children wanting everything they saw on the tele

They make everything look so unrealistically brilliant as well. Trying to explain that a board game doesn't really come to life is hard as well. Then you get but I saw it, that's what it does!

She's not too bad but it is getting annoying.

Re: Am I being a Grump?

I absolutely hate toy ads - especially things like Bratz and Barbie as I really feel they send out a very wrong message to young girls - and trust me, I'm no prude.

I just meet any requests for me to buy, with a blanket 'no' I'm afraid. Not to say I don't later consider some of the products but I certainly don't admit it at the time.

It does seem though that the Govt is now talking about legislating against this barage of ads aimed at children, which is a good thing.

That cant be a bad thing Yola.

As for the Bratz, I think Ceilidh is the only girl in her class that doesn't have them. I hate the brattish attitude as well. Hands on the hips and whatever!! agh.

I'm now saying that she wrote to Santa and there's no changing her mind. I will add the odd thing but the Christmas shop is shut!!
