Re: back trouble

You have a slipped disc and they quoted £10.000? Mine was £4019 all inclusive with physio etc.. BUPA hospital, Little Aston. They usually have set prices I think?

Anyway, I just want to see you better as I know what its like. I still have a "dead foot" the side and underside of my left foot is completely numb due to the nerve damage, but it wont ever bother me and still might come back ok, but its doubtful now. My responses and reflexes in that lower leg and foot are crap too, but again in normal life I should be ok, the pain is completely gone!

May I suggest you get the MRI done privately if you can afford it and jump the NHS queue because I was quoted a 3-5mth wait, I paid private and the wait was an hour and a half! Its worth it because I understand the pain you are in, my sciatica was crippling, i never ever want to feel like that again, i hope you feel better soon.
Dawn.
I had the same op 6 years ago. Unfortunatly I was one of the people it worked for untill I sneezed and put out the disc above the op site. I now have another out below the op site ( Oh lucky me ). I hope it works for both. Jac xx

I really sympathise with you.
I was laid flat for about six months after slipping my disc. MRI scan showed it was dehydrated so would never mend. I was in absoloute agony and on all kinds of tablets. I didn't sleep, couldn't get around, couldn't put my shoes, socks or knickers on unaided....it went on and on. My leg and foot were also dead due to sciatica.
I had physio x 4, traction x 3, osteo x 2 nd in the end I had acupuncture, it was really fabulous treatment for me. I was able to get around for the first time and was in considerably less pain. I have been back a further time when it seized up (never as bad). I have trouble on and off now but I now know what I can't do.
However a word of warning, the depression that comes with it can be as bad as the pain as people don't understand cos they can't see the pain. They get impatient with you and you do with yourself. mobilisiation really helps, once you overcome the pain barrier and to keep it moving helps with the supporting muscles around the spine (especially pilates)
Sorry you are experiencing this pain, look after yourself mentally too at this time. Chat to us anytime and don't feel as though you are putting on people by asking for help.
