Blue Impatiens

I'm not too happy how this has turned out; was lovely, compact and covered with flowers when it was new, but has gotten extremely leggy now and hardly blooming. It reminded me very much of a wildflower here called jewelweed that grows in damp spots; researched the latter and it too is an impatiens. So, I don't think I'm going to bother with taking cuttings or saving seed; win some, lose some.......

Re: Blue Impatiens

I didn't have it last year, Moli. Posted a pic of it last year from a catalogue before I got this one in April. It's an annual, won't live over Winter.

Oh yes, I keep forgetting to take a pic! They open in the morning and close up early so when I think of it they're gone. Note to self: pics for Mags! I have two in pots which I'll bring in, and one in the ground to see if it'll overwinter.

I would love to see them Eileen. Unfortunately mine died, I planted some in a basket and in the ground, they grew very spindly and withered Maybe our climate isn't suitable for them

What a shame! And they seem to be so hardy here; in warmer climates they're considered an invasive plant. They seem to be quite happy here, will see if the one in the ground will make it thru the Winter.

They grew to a height of about 8" but the stems remained like cotton threads
