Is it possible for a cat to have a reaction to microchip implant?

Just thought I'd air this question as a result of Kizzy's skin irritation which I presumed was a reaction to Stronghold application. OH is fairly sure that her bald patch is further down from the place where I put the spot on and queried if there could be any connection with her chip. I didn't even think of this and did not raise it with the vet.

Anyone heard of any reactions?

I have to add that she's had the chip for over a year now - can anything affect how it is working - the heat for example?

I have no idea. Phone the vet? How is her rash today?

It seems much improved thanks Eileen.

I was just curious really, so thought I'd throw the question out to our knowledgeable members!

http://www.avma.org/issues/microchip...pping_bgnd.asp

There is some info about adverse reactions about half way down the page of the link.
