Furballs

Lola has recently (over the last few weeks) been having a lot of furballs, I have never seen such big furballs. They are long and solid - and just hair. I am finding them almost every morning and also finding them outside and it is definitly hers as I see and hear her having them. She is a very fluffy cat, but she has never had furballs so frequently, in fact she hardly used to get them at all. We brush her at least twice a day - she demands it as she loves being brushed !!

Does anybody have any advice on what I can do for her to minimise these furballs, as it must be awful for her?

I use Katalax for my cats, it really helps furballs....

I am sorry Manyana13 - my cats rarely have furballs, Pip is short haired and Kizzy just doesn't seem to have much of a problem. Perhaps it's due to the warm weather?

I know there is a food especially designed to help furball - or give Katalax a go, as suggested by Moli above???

My cat Sid, although short haired had a very dense undercoat and often had furballs. Yes, Katalax is good. I used to also add a little cod liver oil to feed. Also gave ad lib dried food meant to assist in avoiding them. It did help to stop them almost completely.

I use Petromalt (US equivalent of Katalax) plus daily grooming and don't have a furball problem. Leia is shorthaired but a dense coat. I occasionally give her just a little bit of the oil from tinned tuna, which she loves.
