So you remember this little apple tree?

If you remember this little apple tree in the spring .........

You may like to know that it has given me some lovely little apples this year - more than any previous year. And they are delicious!

I think they are Lord Lambourn, which I have learned is a cross of James Grieve and Worcester Pearmain. They are a bit like a Cox's Orange Pippin, but much sweeter. Yummy!

Lovely - it's so nice to keep the old varieties.
We have the start of a 'Community Orchard' at the allotments. Local and heritage varieties. Lots of baby trees planted around the perimeter but they were only planted last year as whips, so they've a bit of growing still to do. Some fruit though.

That's delightful! Did you spray? Here apples are generally ruined if you don't; the people across the alley had an apple tree that was glorious in bloom, but the apples which were heavily produced were weevilly (is that a word?), and inedible. Yours look lovely...and I like your china pattern too!

No - no spray at all Eileen. Just picked off the tree, a bit rain washed and eaten straight away!
