I've read up on Leycesteria Formosa - the himalayan honeysuckle - sounds as if they have colourful berries too and are liked by bees! I'll have to pop out and see if they smell (that's a mixed do-dah isn't it!)

It really is my favourite shrub, seem to grow anywhere too...mine is still flowering too...although I had to evict a few snails from it yesterday!!!!

I was looking for shrubs that would do wel in my windy, exposed situation. Might try and hunt one of these down come spring. The flowers look very unusual and I do like the colour.
