Mars Bar Saturday

I don't know your chocolate varieties so using one of ours!

Hi, people, very late for a Daily, what's everyone up to? We broke a heat record yesterday, 104 F! It didn't really feel that hot..... right now nearing 10:30am it's 28 C (82 F), not going to make triple digits today. All I've done so far is dump the trash and recycling, pick up mail and check the greenhouse plants; not very exciting here in the community, but that suits me fine. Just a quiet afternoon with the papers and weekend crossword.

Hope all are well, two and four legged!

Hi Eileen, and all! I missed you yesterday but glad Catsstaff was on my wave length for a thread title

Yes we have Mars bars here Eileen, also, must tell you that we were in Abergavenny market this morning and came across a stall selling all American candy: Hershy bars, coconut & peanut butter M&Ms, even Lucky Charms cereal and Mountain Dew... lovely!

Have handed Tom back to his parents so settled down to watch a Miss Marple on ITV3. Steak pie and veggies for tea.

See you later. x

Re: Mars Bar Saturday

Hi both...

Yep, used to love Mars Bars when I was younger, now it's just far too much sweetness all at once for me to handle - and I'd tend to go for a milkyway instead... if I wanted something of that kind anyway!!!

Has been a bit of a busy start to the day - up and dressed by about 7:30, car packed and goodbyes to campers I knew by about 8, and leaving the campsite I was at over night by 8:10... Dropped one friend off at home by 9, but struggled to get away, dropped other friend and ran, and was home by 10... since then have just been chilling, and spending time with my wee girlie... Left home yest at just gone 8, and it was a long and rather stressful day (was essentially in and around another 2-3000 people most of the day, and I struggle with crowds of that size)> so quiet day today. Gorgeous sunny weather both days, unfortunately I seem to have burnt the back of my neck/shoulders. Joys of having short hair!!!

Hope everyone whose not checked in yet is doing alright. Have a good rest of your day all!

Ah, there's no place like home and your own bed, is there, Squirrel. Ouch to the sunburn! My sweet tooth isn't what it was when I was younger, but I could eat a Nestle's Crunch if you offered me one .....Enjoy your tranquility!

Re: Mars Bar Saturday

Hi all - just signing in after having taken Monty for his evening walk and now we have supper on (sausages, pots, runner beans and carrots with some onion gravy) and are enjoying a pre-supper libation!

Re sweet tooth - I have found that I much prefer dark chocolate now, but sometimes nothing will do but Cadbury's milk!

Sorry about the sunburn Squirrel - I find aloe vera very soothing, have you got any?

Eileen - if I had a Nestle's Crunch in the house, you would be welcome to have it! PP - that American stall must have been interesting, I have been looking for canned pumpkin online today, which seems to be an American product (or Chinese). It seems that Waitrose may do it! Might have to look next time I go.

Angie, I was going to suggest making your own pumpkin puree if you couldn't find it at Waitrose; I reecalled my Mom doing it. Well, faulty memory. it's quite a time consuming job as I found out when I tread this "how to" !!

Ouch, sympathies on the sunburn! I burn easily too and have to be careful of my neck. My fave chocolate is Montezuma dark chocolate with chilli- there is a bar close by...
We have just eaten Vietnamese hot and sour prawn noodles. We have to eat it on a Saturday to allow time for the garlic breath to ease. Any recipe that starts 'take 5 fat cloves of garlic' is alright by me.

CS, that sounds like my kind of recipe! When you have time, post it in the recipe sticky?

Re: Mars Bar Saturday

Best job interview I ever had was at Montezuma's little factory nearby at West Stoke. Not sure if they've expanded since. I got to make my own bars of chocolate and take them home with me afterwards! Sadly, I didn't get the job.

Thanks for the recipe Eileen - not quite the season yet, but I did try pumpkin pie some time ago, and liked it. A Brit who had lived in USA for quite a while made one and bought it into work.
