Not terribly. Once it's in and going it's not too bad but it needs a lot of tlc at the beginning and you can't really pick for 3 years (as you're cropping all those shoots and it needs time to build up). After that the beds just need keeping tidy and weed free and a nice dollop of manure/compost on top each autumn.
It's a bit of a luxury really, but if you have space it's not too bad.
