Hello

Hi everyone,
I'm a regular on Dogsey, but have only just got 2 kittens, so thought I would come over here too

On Saturday we got handed some kittens, told they were 8-10 weeks old. I thought they were very tiny for kittens that age, but the 'breeder' didnt want them and walked off.

There was a tabby and a black - black looked healthy, but tabby very thin, smaller than the black, sore bottom, dire rear, sore eye, hardly any energy.

Brought them home and set up 'camp' in the dogs cage!
Tried to sex them, black was easi (male), but Tabby was hard as 'she' was so thin, and bottom so swollen and sore, but I thought she was a girl!
Named the Tabby 'Abi', and the black one 'Trouble' - as we could tell thats what he was going to be lol

I started cleaning Abi's eye with boiled/cooled salt water, also cleaning and drying her bottom when she'd been to the toilet.
Also started them on Arden Grange food, and some of the kitten milk.
Abi picked up over the weekend, her eye was no longer stuck together, and she had a little more energy. My dog also started to mother them - licking and cleaning them, and Trouble took to trying to suckle from her!

Vets on Monday - who guessed at their age (5-6 weeks), said we had done a good job with Abi, and he wasn't worried about her eye or bottom (both looked 90% better). He said continue doing what we were doing - don't flea treat them or worm them, just build them up, and back in a month to see if they are big enough and well enough for their vaccinations. I will be microchipping them as soon as I think they are big enough, and neutered as soon as they are old enough!
Vets also confirmed I got their sex right lol

They both have so much more energy, and are both putting weight on steadily, and both have solid poos at last! No accidents - every single time they have been in the litter tray!

We are tidying out the spare room to make it into a play room for them, where they can escape the dog, and she can have some rest from them (She's getting on a bit and also has cancer).

Re: Hello

Hello welcome to Catsey!

I have a pair of cats too, brother and sister, they're now 6 years old and still incredibly bonded to each other. Molly wails at the top of her voice if Jason isn't in by the time it gets dark

We also have a dog, Morgan Cocker, who would love to play more with the cats but they're not daft!
