Cacti....


This plant is years old lives in a unheated greenhouse year after year, and really is neglected, has not been repotted for years either, yet it flowers every year without fail...

Beautiful! Do you think it is exactly because you're not caring for it that it flowers so well? Maybe it's a survival mechanism kicking it - don't plants flower profusely if they feel threatened in an attempt to propagate themselves?

Benign neglect seems to work for some plants. I never fuss my amaryllis, put them outside in Summer, bring them back in Autumn, add a little MiracleGro to the water occasionally if I think of it, and they just keep blooming .....

That's a lovely cactus Moli - certainly it must thrive on neglect. Don't they always say the right plant in the right place will do very well?
