I don't mind paying the bill; the relief I would feel finding him and getting him better is worth any amount of money.

Don't know - sorry. I think it's a case where one of my favourite sayings "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" comes into play. Just do it and face the consequences later.

Not been seen at all. But they have gone away so I wonder if he's gone to someone as no one has been asked to feed him their holiday was planned. We'll wait and see.

From what you've said, it wouldn't surpirse me at all to know they've gone on holiday and left him to fend for himself or just assumed the neighbors would feed him! Hope you find the poor guy...
