I'm so sorry to hear of Reggie's diagnosis, it's so hard that our pets don't have longer to be with us. As you say, he doesn't know he's ill and you won't let him get to the point where he's suffering, he's going to have his life filled with love and cuddles for however long he has left. When the time comes you'll know you have done everything possible to make his time with you happy and free from pain.

Re: Cancer and scared....

Hello all.
We had to have Reggie put to sleep 2 weeks ago. Its been such a hard time for us, I just have that guilty feeling and wonder if I did the right thing at the right time

He hadn't eaten for 4 days and his breathing was really fast and when I picked him up he was meowing and gasping for breath for up to 20 mins - it was then that I made the decision as I just couldn't have him suffering any more.

Unfortunately, due to all the meds he had had at the university hospital when the the vet went to give him his injection in his leg, he had no vein so he had to have the euthanasia injection in his abdomen - he had a sedative at first and then the injections to stop him suffering - they took a while to work and because of the amount of tumours in his lungs, the vet had to give him two further injections as it took so long - it was so sad and I wish it could have been easier but at least he wouldn't have known anything because of his sedative as the vet said he would have been in a very deep sleep ... I'm just devastated at losing him but hope that I stopped his suffering at the right time....

Re: Cancer and scared....

I am so very sorry to hear that Reggie has gone. It sounds as if the whole thing was unbelievably hard and sad.

RIP Reggie - no more pain. Go and run and play with the other Catsey cats who have gone before.
