Re: Cancer and scared....

Reggie was referred to a specialist and has been in the animal hospital for the past few days having a CT scan, tests and ultrasound on his heart as it shown as being enlarged on xrays.

We had some bad news last night when we went to pick Reggie up. He only has months to live as they’ve found some minute tumours in his lungs so there’s not much they can do for him now.

I need to take him back on Tuesday just to see the Oncologist as they are going to treat him as best they can to ensure that he’s ok for his remaining time with us.

He’s not in any pain and seems his spritely self at the moment so we just have to make the most of him whilst he’s here. I’m just absolutely gutted and can’t stop crying…. It’s awful.

I would never ever let him get to a point where it was painful for him … I just don’t like the thought of seeing him deteriorate in front of us but we’ll know when the time is right for him to go.

The consultant said that he doesn’t know he’s poorly and he’s not in any pain. We both broke our hearts when we were told it was just awful… I had this thought that she was going to say everything would be ok and it didn’t turn out that way

The specialist we saw was lovely though and explained everything to us but said because it’s that rare they can’t give us that much advice or compare it to other cases they’ve had - it’s just so sad that such a lovely loving cat should have such a horrible illness xxx

We're making the most of the precious time we have left with him now and giving him a great end to a very special life as long as we can until the time comes when we have to say goodbye.....

Re: Cancer and scared....

Flowery, I have been crying while reading your update detailing the bad news for Reggie. Yet, I am so relieved to know that he is in no pain and you are right: you will know when the time is right to say goodbye to him.

In the meantime you can spoil Reggie with lots of hugs, kisses and attention and let him know how much you love him. That will certainly keep his spirits up and will make him happy.

Please keep us posted as to how Reggie is doing. My heart is with you as I have been in your position knowing that it is only a matter of time before having to say goodbye to my furry baby.

Take care!

Re: Cancer and scared....

I am so so sorry for your bad news, i can imagine just how heartbroken you are right now. Just know the main thing is that Reggie has always known your love and he will know that love until and after the day he has to leave this earth and get his wings. There is nothing more important then that, every second with our babies is precious. please give him a cuddle from us and ((hugs)) for you too. He will be in my thoughts.

Oh what sad news. I so feel for you I'm sure you'll give Reggie the love and care he needs on his final journey . . . it's probably far more difficult for you than for him. Many hugs.

I'm so so sorry; that's hard to bear. But at least he isn't suffering now, and I know you'll give him all the love and care he needs until it's time for the last gift of release. You both will be in my prayers (((hugs)))
