Re: Buying cats...

I'd never really thought about there being specialist rescues for cats. If I was looking again then I may explore the option of rescuing a pedigreecat. But with a pregnant Maud, I somehow feel I won't be looking for a while

I've never heard of specialist rescues for cats either That's something new that I've learnt so I'm glad you've joined us here on CP!

We would love to see some pics of your big 'family' of pets Sanachio, please!

Re: Buying cats...

RE: talking rubbish and live in the real world

I live in the real world .I dont look through rose tinted glasses shouting my veiws at other users. As to living in the real world i work 3 days in rescue center and have done so for the past 20years.i also work with breed rescue which means quite offtern having them at home.We have one now who will have to have an opp on her nose as she cant breath properly and her owners cant cope.At present in rescue there are 45 dogs2 ped and 31 cats 1 ped who has kidney stones.wanting a pedigree through rescue you have to join a waiting list
As to pedigrees in breed rescue depending on breed(some have more health issues then others)we see a lot of health related problems which is why they come in.Over 50% are health.
Oh and by the way im also a breeder of persians (30years)and my new owners sign a clause saying that should there ever be a reason they cant have the cat ,then they contact me and i will re home.I have never had a cat go into rescue and i know where they all are.Now thats living in the real world and being RESPONSABLE

Re: Buying cats...

well said Sam
i dont think there is a ragdoll rescue but i do know that there are ppl that will take a cat in as a foster. and all the breeders i talked to had a clause to say cat had to go back if needing a new home.

hi Moli
i may have found a siamese kitten but i have to wait as the breederdoes not know the colours yet and 2 ppl on her list want sertan colours. so my fingers are crossed.

i have becided to look for a briffrent breed as i think it would be to painful to have another ragdoll right away but i will have another maybe in a year or 2

Re: Buying cats...

Very well explained Sam.

Good luck with the siamese Nat - I think you are doing the right thing by going for a different breed after Mittens.

Blimey I have come in a bit late on this debate!! I have never heard of a resuce for pedigrees either - would be a good idea but can't see it happening down where I am!!
