3rd eye lid

Mitten had a cold a few weeks ago. she is fine now but her third eye lid on her right eye is over all the time. well it is half over most of the time lol

she is well in herself but i am starting to worry about this 3rd eye lid. is there anything i can do to help her get to 100% or do i need to take her to the vets? like i said she is ok in her self

Re: 3rd eye lid

Third eye lids are normelly a sign that something is not quite right. If she was mine i would take her to the vets just to be sure. She may still be surrering from the cold and may just need antibiotics to totally get rid of.Better to get her seen and be sure she is not starting to fall ill.Caught in time bugs and virus can be knocked on the head before thet take hold of your cat.

Re: 3rd eye lid

Nat, I've always taken my cats to the vets as soon I've seen the third eyelid. As Sam says it's usually a sign that something is wrong and it's better to get it treated early.

Re: 3rd eye lid

I agree, if one of mine shows the third eyelid I always get them checked over by my vet.

It'll put your mind at rest Nat, the vet will probably give you something to clear it up in no time.
Let us know how you get on.

Re: 3rd eye lid

I'm late coming in on this but agree with everyone else - it is a classic sign of a cat being unwell. Doesn't nec. mean anything serious - but def unwell. Do her ears feel hot? She might have an infection and you can often guage a temperature from the ears.

Sure she'll be fine, give her a cuddle from us all
