I know the males are very vocal - prior to us having Jaffa I researched the breed as much as I could. Lots of people told me the males are vocal & will talk (ie growl) at people. My husband & I found this strange as we had always had Bullmastiffs (slobbery docile & brainless) so to us this was just unacceptable behaviour & we thought we would just not allow this vocal growling to happen. Which to be fair - he wasn't really vocal in that way.
I have been to a friends house & their big male would put both paws on your lap - stare at you & growl. they would say - he's talking - we would just not give eye contact . we never allowed our dog to do that.

Re: New addition - a dog

Well had some bad news, Callie' owners next door neighbour has just phoned her owner died this afternoon. I have not taken her out during November due to a real aversion on her part for fireworks - loud bangs - not sure what happens now.
I was due to take her out tomorrow, but won't be going now they have asked me not to.

Re: New addition - a dog

Are there any Rottie rescues that would help out in this situation?

I am sure they would Fran the thing is I would think the dog is the last of the families worries. This is kinda sudden he was under the weather when I saw him a couple of weeks ago - but as always cheerful.
