im getting another phone soon,my daughter is giving me her old one (its only 3 mths old) got a camera on it,but the sims locked whats that mean?? er not much to a tech head me

There are places that unlock mobile phones, you can also do it over the intrnet..My hubby unlocked my new one over the internet so I could use my old sim card in it....Saved me changing numbers...
