Re: help me pick

I like Mittens too. It's a bit obvious - bet there are a few of that breed with that name but that doesn't matter. There are lots of big male dogs called Tyson, Bruno etc; doesn't mean it doesn't suit them.

It's also quite a nice name for calling to get them in - or just use a fork on a dish - that works like magic!

Good luck and keep us posted.

It only took about 4 weeks before my new puppy and the Siamese were sharing a lap. We don't even have any chasing now...well maybe a bit of 'going through the motions' movement, but no intent. The cats are quite happy to enter a room while the pup's there, or cross the garden whilst she's out.

I think it's even easier introducing a kitten to a grown dog. I remember my sister keeping the kitten in a cage whilst the dogs were around, for about 3 days only. They were, in turn, keen, fascinated, protective and then totally besotted.

Is the kitten used to dogs? If not it mightl take her a little time to become confident.

Re: help me pick

no she is not used to dogs but i have had staffords and a kitten before.

what i done is this and i hope to do it about the same this time

when we picked the kitten up we had him in a carry box on the way home came in and let the dogs in to see him(he was still in the crate)
i put the kids to bed and just left the dogs smell him and try to lick him though the crate.

after the dogs had settled a bit we left him out but had the dogs on leads just in case. with in 2 days they had stopped tring to lick him to death and would sleep together.
they were never left alone together untill the kitten could jump high to get out of the way but the kitten was alway boss.

i dont think it is going to be that easy this time as Tara HATES cats and Grace is still a pup but they all know that i am top and if i say no then no it is.

(for those that dont know i have 3 staffords)
