My childhood cat

Found this old B & W pic of Scamper, the ginger boy I grew up with. It didn't copy very well, but here he is!

Re: My childhood cat

Lovely picture Eileen - the photo, although not Scamper, reminds me of one I posted a while ago of my mum's childhood cat Bimbo, who was also a ginger but not long haired. Scamper looks long or semi-long haired.

It's lovely to have happy cat memories - I was not allowed to have a cat as a child because of my asthma. Now I'd rather swallow an antihistamine if necessary and have a cuddly cat!

Re: My childhood cat

He was semi-longhaired, Angie. A mighty mouser, used to line up his mice on the back steps for Mom. I was responsible for the name as he did, as all kittens do, scamper. It really didn't fit as he grew up to be a large dignified cat. A lovely boy he was!

Re: My childhood cat

He didn't mind the camera; he was a very laid back cat. Somewhere I have a pic of him in a baby carriage with a baby bonnet on, looking very cross, but putting up with it. He took his mousing very seriously, however!

Re: My childhood cat

Again, a very evocative pic of a beautiful cat. He looks rather like a Louis Wain cat - very expressive and yes, I can almost imagine him in a waistcoat, looking at his fob watch and tapping his foot impatiently
