Re: List of GOOD THINGS about Winter

The extra layers of clothing needed during winter means that we can put on a few pounds over Christmas and get away with it.

Haha love that answer Mags
Hmmm..staying inside with a warm cat on your lap. Fireplaces on...people not so out and about...warm dinners..and the holidays of course! Oh and a good excuse to stay home and inside and hibernate

Re: List of GOOD THINGS about Winter

I love winter, in fact I love all our seasons. Can think of plenty of good things about the colder weather.
  • Not so many bugs around, particularly hate flies and maggots!
  • Lovely stews and casseroles and warming soup
  • Real fires
  • Cosy nights in in front of the TV (Tv programmes are always better in winter!) with candles on and cuddling a hot water bottle
  • Being lovely and toastie with the electric blanket on
  • Not so many people out on dog walks!!
  • A frosty morning, so pretty.
  • Not having to mow the lawn or do the weeding!

Re: List of GOOD THINGS about Winter

Great things about winter for me are:

~ Putting the Christmas tree up
~ Crisp weekend morning walks over crunchy, frosty grass
~ The cats snuggle on the bed with me
~ Less work on the allotment (not that I mind that too much)
~ Lighting the fire in the sitting room and having an excuse to do nothing but watch DVDs

Re: List of GOOD THINGS about Winter

THIS WINTER IS GOING TO BE A TREAT:

No getting out of a warm bed on a freezing night to rush to a birth
No scraping the car and sitting in it teeth chattering until the screen clears
No risking life and limb in the snow to get to an appointment only to find out the family had gone 'snowboarding'
No worrying about the Christmas and New Year rota to find out what shifts I'm working and what I'll have to miss on telly.

ON THE OTHER HAND:

I'll miss those special frosty mornings after a night shift when the moon makes the trees glisten
I'll miss the excitement of waiting for the first baby on Christmas day, and placing him/her in the decorated crib
I'll miss the taste of hot chocolate with sugar to keep you going through a long labour, me and mum both!
I'll miss getting a new set of scarf & mitts in gaudy Christmas patterns to wear in the festive season.

Each season has it's own uniqueness, Winter may make me feel cold and gloomy but the love of good friends and family makes it glow.

Beautifully put PP - although I'm not sure why you now have to forego the new set of scarf and mitts - you can still have those surely!!!

Christmas tree! I think we'll just have to have one this year and hope Pip is a good boy!!! It would have been asking too much of him last year, but he's all grown up now.
