Re: How much should a healthy adult cat eat? and how much do yours eat?

My cats are fed 1/3 cup of dry food each per day, between meals they steal food off my pate, tear open and devour half a loaf of bread, steal food out of the dogs bowl, and break into the cat food bin for a snack.

They like eating. What can I say.

If your kitty doesn't want to eat more, and she needs to put on some weight, how about switching to something that has more calories and protein per serving. Your vet probably caries something like it.

It may be an idea to feed her smaller meals of what she enjoys but more often throughout the day. Her stomach may not be able to handle a lot of food in one go. Just a thought.

I am out of the house from 7am to 6pm so her "meals" are 6am half a pouch and crunch topping. I then refill her bowl with another half a pouch and she always has a bowl of dry food and fresh water for during the day.

She then gets another half pouch in the evening with more dry food and has her dentabits for her teeth then.

If she eats all that she has another half pouch for the night. So technically "four" meals" although she doesn't eat it all but is averaging 1 and a half pouches a day.

For her dry food she now has RC Active Mature mixed with Iams fish variety which she is eating happily

and the good news is that since the weekend she has filled out and put on weight so I am feeling happier!

She's off to the vet this afternoon too for her checkup

Re: How much should a healthy adult cat eat? and how much do yours eat?

we had a hell of a game with jerry and food!!!!
hes a very fussy kitty!!
we went through kitekat, felix, whiskers and whiskers dry but he wasnt having any of it,so i took him to the vet who said that he was fine its just that cats are fussy eaters, she suggested just leaving the dry food in the bowl constantly and putting wet food down a couple of times aday, she said that he WOULD eat when he was hungry....but ohhhh no,jerry had other ideas....after 3 days of not eating a thing i tried him on gourmet pearl pouches the most expensive food at our shop and he loved it !!!!So now hes on 2 pouches of gourmet a day and i leave whiskers complete dry down all the time that he knibbles at through out the day.what can i say hes like his mummy and has expensive taste
