RIP Black & White cat on A131 in Braintree

RIP little fella.

Saw a very kind biker gently move this little one from the verge onto the grass on Monday morning.

That is an act of kindness. I hope I would be brave enough to do it if the need arose

Re: RIP Black & White cat on A131 in Braintree

I agree, it was so touching seeing him move the cat as he was being so gentle. Very sad indeed, might give the local vets a call and see if they know of any black & white cats that have gone missing in the area.

Once in the same vets somebody came in as they had moved a cat that had been hit the previous day, they left it there (incase the owner saw it) and then they stopped the next day and took it to the vets to see if it had a chip.

I have once stopped and taken a cat that had been hit (on the very same road) and was in the middle of the lane to the vets incase it had a chip. It was difficult but I would thank anybody who did that to one of mine.

Some people do act bravely in such cases. Poor wee cat - is there any speed limit on that bit of road Emma?

Re: RIP Black & White cat on A131 in Braintree

Hi Angie,

It is 60mph single carriageway. Recently a young girl driver got killed very close to where this cat was found. Here is a link to the article with a picture of the road (which is just past a bend)
http://www.braintreeandwithamtimes.c...died_in_crash/
the cat is about 30 feet further from the flowers in the photo.

Just phoned the vet, they have no reported cats missing of that description, she did say I could bring it in if I wanted to. I said I would have but that particular piece of road is very dangerous even on foot and the cat is a long away away from a layby. I will keep my eye on it to see if it gets moved. The vets know where it is now as well.

This photo shows the road better, it is a good piece of road but quite a few fatalities in the 10 years we have lived there (a neighbour died on that road about 6 years ago)

Awww R.I.P little kitty.

I don't think I could move an animal, I get really upset at just seeing a hedgehog or bird in the road!!! Even though I'd want to help I just couldn't. But you never know how you'd react in a situation like that until your in it.
