Re: Another 4 generation pic!

Another fab pic of family! I wish i had something like that to look back on. Mind you, they'd all have to stop fighting long enough in my family for pics to be taken!!

Not in a really serious way, Karen; I've tried a few geneology sites but they were very complicated. I don't even know if my people came thru Ellis Island or somewhere else....since they settled in Rhode Island and Massachussetts I rather suspect that they might have come thru Boston, if there was an immigration station there? All I really know is that my father's people originally came from Burton-on-Trent.

Re: Another 4 generation pic!

I'm not even sure of that; my Dad was born here in Massachussetts in 1897, and he was the third child. Somehow I have it in my mind that it was after our Civil War and maybe had to do with the Irish potato famine....

If you have your Dad's birth certificate then you have his Mom and Dad's names you should be able to trace his parents back from that Maybe even there wedding certificate. Then if that takes you back to the UK then you can find out from the cencus there is a cencus every 10 years in the UK.

Re: Another 4 generation pic!

I do know my paternal grandparents names: Dennis Meakin and Catherine Regan. But not sure where I'd go from there...maybe check the census records in England for Burton-on-Trent? Oh say maybe from 1850 to 1880? You can tell I don't know much about this...
