Bumper strawberry crop this year

The earliest and best strawberry crop for 20 years has happened due to the early hot weather.

OH and I are gearing up to make some strawberry jam. Not at all sure about strawberry vodka - seems not to sound right or taste right in my imagination. Will await the raspberries - they are the best in vodka IMO!

Re: Bumper strawberry crop this year

Sounds like you grow a few things Angie.
I am attempting to grow some things this year, would love to master it and be able to pick what I want from the garden. I have always grown herbs but I have some potatoes on the go at the moment (first time)
and I have lettuce, toms, sweetcorn, cucumbers, peppers and spring onions ready to plant into planters I am buying at the weekend. May need some hints in the future

Re: Bumper strawberry crop this year

Lucky you Angie! My strawbs are retarded at the moment because we had a clear out of the strawberry bed and have started afresh. However, my late raspberries which usually don't surface until end of August are already ripening

Jam??? Pah! Have had 2 goes at rhubarb and vanilla jam and on neither occasion did they set. Hoping to have more luck with my rasbs.
