a water fountain is something i have thought of in the last few weeks... didn't really know much about them until Tinky was in hospital and i saw that they had one there for their clinic cats... (they had 3 big beautiful cats.. Bruce, Toby and I can't remember the others name at the moment..) anyway...Tinky and George love to drink from the bathroom tap... George learnt it from Tinky and im sure that Harri will pick it up from Geoge at some stage... so i thought a fountain might be a good way for them to have "running"water without me having to be there to turn on the tap all the time.. the one i've been looking at is the "cat-it"and allegedly they are the most popular here... but from what ive just read here they might not be so good...given that i dont give my cats anything to drink apart from water it's important that whichever one i get is effective.. i think id probably have to get an electrician to come and put in a power point at ground level in the laundry so i'd have power for it... dont fancy it being up on the laundry bench... |

I have one but Maxi & Maisy don`t seem to bother with it to much at the moment, they did used to play in it alot  |

jo - I've had two (or maybe 3?) Cat-its in the 3 years I've had my boys. They don't last. The pump fails. I've now got a Drinkwell, which appears better. The pump can be replaced if necessary and the whole thing fels more robust and easy to clean. You can get an extra reservoir should you want to ensure very large supply. The water actually falls from a lip, rather than runs down a slope. I prefer it |

My Tribe have both a water bowl, situated in the bath as BeWilbured likes to try & move them to make the water ripple  , and a water fountain in the kitchen which they all use.I had the Cat-it one first but as previously mentioned the pump packed up after 18 months & it was really hard to clean (thought that was just me being dippy!  ) now have the drinkwell one but the only time I find them noisy is if they are getting low on water??! I only switch mine on for a few hours a day (see post in cystitis or constipation thread) and I highly recommend them!!! That's very useful info MCL and great news that Castaways Animal Rescue gets a commission on spends. I know lots of Catsey peeps order stuff online, so that's well worth knowing. |

With this credit crunch malarkey we are getting inundated with pregnant mothers, un-neutered toms and poorly pussies which their previous 'owners' have decided to move out and just abandon.... so any extra pennies are soooooooooooooooo gratefully recieved!!!
