Gosh, I can be so dense at times :(

Hadn't mentioned it but I've been concerned the last couple of days about one of the baby chicks (Ebony) It was quite reddish around the eyes and beak.

As you know we had a few new hens recently. One of them had lice and although it had been treated and isolated I was worried the wee soul had picked them up and was scratching away at itself.

Came home tonight and noticed that Biba was looking a bit red too.

Asked OH to come and look - didn't say why. His first response was - oh look, they're colouring up nicely.

Duh - hens are red around the head aren't they

Phew!! Glad it was a mild panic over nothing.

Sometimes we seem to see problems where there are none - some kind of self-defence mechanism maybe.

It never hurts to be prepared for a problem. I often think of the lines from Housman, a much out of fashion and underappreciated poet:

I thought of trouble.
My thoughts were steady
So I was ready
When trouble came.

It could have been lice ....

It's not until you see stages of development yourself that you understand when these sort of things happen. Glad everything is as it should be, CM!

Or, "Don't trouble trouble until trouble troubles you!"
