Wasps!

Went to put the bunnies to bed last night and felt a sharp burning feeling on my hand- like really strong stinging nettles. Got one bun it the carrier, went to get the other and it happened to my leg. I'm very proud of myself, as I figured out it had to be wasps, but continued to get the buns safe. Once everybody was in we got a torch and check inside the houses- 3 houses ahd wasp nests- the one I got stung in was huge.

I hate to kill anything, but we headed off to B&Q, and bought some wasp and nest killer. I will apply it early tomorrow, can cope with being stung myself but won't risk the bunnies!

Still sore though!

Re: Wasps!

Ugh - I hate wasps. I don't hate many living things, but I am actually allergic to wasp stings. If that had been me, I could be dead by now.

Kill 'em!

Re: Wasps!

Its the first time I've been stung by a wasp, so I was a little concerned because I didn't know if I was allergic. I'm fine although feel very tired, but I've put that down to the last few days being upset about Spice. Still can't believe she's gone!

Re: Wasps!

If you are allergic, you would go into shock. Also you could see a red tracking line from the site of the sting up your arm/leg. I have only been stung once on the wrist. It looked as if someone had run a red hot poker up my arm.

It is hard when a much loved cat or any other animal passes on. I am becoming more and more a believer in reincarnation. It just seems right to me. You have helped her on her journey and hard as it may seem at the moment, that is a real blessing.

Re: Wasps!

OMG. kill them! I'm quite allergic to wasp stings, had to go to A & E once for treatment. As the buns body mass is so much smaller I'd expect the venom to be worse if they got stung.

Yes, me too Eileen. It took ages to feel comfortable again, even with antihistamine injections, pills and cream. I hope never again.

Re: Wasps!

The wasps have been disposed of, feeling very guilty about it but it was too dangerous to leave them.

The nest killer foam was amazing, it covered the nest in foam and the nest disintegrated. I went back after a while and there was just a pulp full of dead wasps and larvae.

Wasp stings are nasty. Like you, farthing, I don't like killing any creature, but I loathe wasps, flies, maggots and slugs!

Re: Wasps!

Have no conscience about killing wasps Farthing, they are just nasty pests and do more harm than good. And yes, the foam does an amazing job
