Tom's hurt his leg

Poor Tom has hurt his hind leg. Yesterday he was perfectly ok at tea time. I then had to go out, when i returned Howard told me that Tom had come in, limping and had fallen over. Both our boys have some sort of neurological problem with their hind legs which makes them weak. We think he has jumped down off the fence and strained something. I checked his leg and paw and couldn't hear or see anything so we left him to rest on our bed. Before we went to bed Tom was able to weight bear a little . We decided to lock the cat flap, however all through the night i kept hearing Tom wailing to go out, he refused to use the litter tray. Eventualy i gave in and let him out, fortunately before i went back to bed he came back in.
This morning he is able to weight bear more and i raised his food dish to make eating easier.
He is languishing in front of the radiator now so i will just keep my eye on him and see how it goes.

Poor Tom - I do hope he's just pulled a muscle or jarred something and as he's by the radiator, the heat may ease the pain for him. Please give him a gentle cuddle from me. Pip and Kizzy send comforting purrrrrrs.

Tom's leg is a lot better today, thank you everyone for your concern.
He is able to weight bear properly on it now.
I think the gate from the drive to the garden is the problem, because there is already a weakness in his hind legs when he jumps down it puts too much pressure on his legs. We can't leave the gate open because the dog will get out. We will have to have a think.

It's a five barred gate with chicken wire on so i think would be tricky. Howard realy needs to build another gate but he's mad busy with work at the moment. A cat flap would have to be very small as Basenjis are escape artists, trouble is Jerry is fat
At the moment were possible i'm lifting him over or opening the gate for him. Maybe i could put a trampoline at the bottom
