Update..
Rory is doing very well, He has plenty of rest as well as some gentle playtime. I took him in the back garden on a lead..don't laugh..just so he could get some fresh air.
Bella our other little girl cat is getting better with him now. She is a little dear, she even followed us when Rory went missing and we were looking and calling him.
When Rory came back from the vet she was not very keen at all..hissing and keeping her distance but now, today she sat snuggled up to him,licking his face..awww.

I would post a picture but cannot seem to find the url for the pictures to post here..any help would be great.

I'm so very glad to hear that Rory is coming on well and that Bella has accepted him again. It seems usual for other cats to be fazed by the "vet surgery smell"
