Re: Orchid is blooming

Thanks! It's really a nice little camera; I certainly got my money's worth. This phalaenopsis orchid has a story...I was cutting thru the alley (short cut) on the way home from the market on trash day last Spring and lo and behold, someone had put it out on top of the rubbish bin...it had finished blooming and they either didn't know how to keep it or couldn't be bothered! Naturally I clasped it to my bosom with cries of joy and brought it home...my free orchid! (Used to grow them back in the 70's; got out of it; another story). So, I had to buy it some orchid food, and then it looked lonesome by itself, so went on line and ordered two more to keep it company...my "free" orchid ended up costing me, but it's a joy to have around...

Re: Orchid is blooming

Wow - it's stunning! I've got one in a flower display that's sadly just going over. It's my 1st experience of orchids and I have to say - they are rather lovely

BTW - my parents have/had a friend that grows them in a greenhouse as a hobby; aparently he has to have special insurance as some are close to priceless

Re: Orchid is blooming

Why not? Get a phalaenopsis (moth orchid); they're the easiest to grow in home conditions and are relatively inexpensive...Whole Foods market sells them for $16.99. And they love to spend the Summer outdoors in filtered sunlight. Lots of growing and culture info on Google!
