The clumps get larger every year. Looking good despite 2 feet of snow on them. earlier, The purple ones always bloom first.

I don't think so, CM, at least none of mine have ever set seed or made offshoots. They just get bigger with more blooms every year ... and hate being transplanted. They like semi shade.

I think we discussed them before - wonder if I should try some - you know how I always like to try and find something pretty that will grow up here, lol.

Here's a good link. Our soil is clay, and slightly on the acidic side. I didn't do any soil enrichment, just dug good sized holes and popped them in. If deer are a problem, which they are in our suburbs, deer don't eat them!

They look lovely Eileen - I always think that it's a shame those beautiful flowers hang down. I am sure that I have seen a new variety advertised that has a more upright habit. I will see if I can find it!
