Annual nesting and fur reminder

It's that time again! Nesting season is here; you can put your cat's fur combings out for the birds to line their nests, they do love it. Spread it on the shrubs or, as MrsH cleverly suggested last year, put it in your suet cake holder, I did that last year and that keeps it from blowing away in the March winds.

oooh good idea thankyou....I'm worried mne will be used by flying rat pigeons though, they don't need much encouragement to nest.

Thanks for the reminder Eileen - Kizzy is beginning to moult big time! I remember last year she didn't seem to lose much fur at all. Pip's is so short a bird would have trouble weaving into anything worth mentioning! He is shedding a bit.

Here's the fur in the holder, and the donor herself!

Re: Annual nesting and fur reminder

I am furminating this week, so will have quite a bit for the nests!

Love Leia's expression in that picture, she does not look amused at you giving her fur to the birds!

LOL, Moli, no, she does look a bit annoyed; she'd prefer I gave the birds to her!

I would never have believed that HRH would be such a generous donor, Eileen if you'd not posted that photo! She looks as if she has a very short coat like Pip - but she's obviously got loads to spare to keep those little fledglings cosy! (and no, she doesn't look very amused, does she?)

I always put Cali's combings out - she is losing a load of coat just now so the little birds should be nice and warm and cosy.

Angie, that's about 10 days combings. Her coat is short but thick and soft.

This is such a good idea, my Dad has been out into garden this morning and put fur in the hedges
