In Liverpool it is ma or mam. But I have always said Mum.
In St helens the maternal grandparents are known as Mother and Father to the grandchildren, which can be confusing....

I always called my parents mum and dad. Definitely the spelling with u!! My mum was always nanny or nan and dad, grandad, to my children.

In the East Midlands, grandmothers are often referred to as 'nanar; or 'mamma' which I had never heard before!
