Very odd looking Squirrel!

The squirrels in the back garden normally look like this

But today I spotted one that looked a little different

he seemed quite at home up in the trees

and definitely wasn't in any hurry to come down

although he did eventually

What great shots, Het! He's lovely! And I'm glad you have the red squirrels, not the destructive Eastern grey ones!! (I'm fanatic on the subject of them!! ).

Re: Very odd looking Squirrel!

Thankyou he is growing so fast, and still only a baby
I love his squirrel tail, although its always full of leaves and twigs

Thanks Eileen, there are currently four different reds visiting the feeding box I have set up, hopefull there will be some babies shortly. There is an established colony of reds about 5 miles from me and they are starting to filter out into the surrounding countryside, we all keep a watch for the greys, there have been one or two in the area I believe. Our local Gamekeeper is on the lookout as well

Re: Very odd looking Squirrel!

We don't have any red squirrels at all here The only red one I've seen is on the German/Austrian border!

Your main coon boy is super - my heart would be in my mouth if any of my cats were up a tree like that (mind you, they have a job jumping up onto the wheely bins with their short little legs ) LOL!!!

I have only had these ones visiting for the last 2 years, they are fabulous fun to watch and don't seem at all bothered by the dogs and cats.

I was a bit worried about him being up there but he seemed so sure of himself, I am amazed at his balance and agility for a big cat. I did go and get the ladders, all prepared for a rescue, but by the time I had wrestled them out of the shed and got up to the tree he was down
