Re: Ninja has a broken heart

Thanks everyone. He's sitting with his front paws on my leg right now just purring away. I'm really going to miss that.

Re: Ninja has a broken heart

I am so very sorry to hear about poor Ninja. I was very close to a young Ragdoll who sadly died of Idiopathic HCM before she was 2 years old. We didnt know anything about the condition or that she had it until it struck her suddenly one evening.
I'm sorry to ask as I know you have more important things on your mind, but do you know who bred her at all? If so, I'd personally let them know as it can be hereditary and they should either have their breeding cats screened for it.

Solid information there from Elaine - concur 100%. However it doesn't detract from the sense of fear and worry about the potential loss of Ninja you must be experiencing. I hope the time you have left with her is special for both of you. Hugs.

Re: Ninja has a broken heart

Thanks for the link Elaine.

I guess you could say that God was Ninja's breeder, his mom was a feral who gave birth to a litter on a mans boat. I can only assume dad was a feral too. The man tried to drown the kittens. Ultimately, only Ninja survived. I hand raised him from just a few days old.

Re: Ninja has a broken heart

Poor Ninja, try not to lose heart just yet though, as the link from the feline advisory bureau sounds a little more optomistic, although no real cure but possibly treatable. Although I do understand your vet being a little less optomistic, I guess she/he is trying to prepare you for a worse case scenario.
Either way, we all send you and Ninja lots of love and best wishes at such an emotional and worrying time. xxx
