Off to the vets with Candy.

Candy is booked in for blood tests, just to check her thyroid levels and general bloods, but because of her temper she needs to be sedated. I feel that she is just a bit off but there is nothing obvious. If they come back clear she's get her booster too. I've also asked to get her nails clipped, I can do it but it is much less risky if she is asleep!

Re: Off to the vets with Candy.

Candy is home, bloods are normal( have to wait for thyroid results) but as usual her esinophils are high, higher than normal and this is linked to her IBD. Her heart mumur is now 3/6 so getting worse. The vet gave her a shot of steroid to cover her IBD and if it works was suggesting we put her on preds long term. I am not sure if I want to do this because of her heart murmur- long term steroid use in cats with murmurs can lead to heart failure. It is a case of watching for any coughing etc, but if I can avoid using them I will. Candy didn't get her booster because of the steroid injection. Loki was also in for his booster, he was a real flirt and she could hear his heart properly because her kept rolling on his back and showing her his tummy!

Re: Off to the vets with Candy.

Hope Candy's throid results are ok, difficult decision about the steroids, i think you are right to be cautious and just keep a watch on her.
Glad things went well for flirty Loki
