Merlin

It is with huge sadness that I have to tell you all that Merlin was pts this afternoon at about 6.00 pm. He did go peacefully at the vet's and both I and my OH were with him.

I would like to thank everyone who has been asking after him over the last couple of weeks - I had panicked before about his health and did not want to get everyone worried like before.

Merlin had lived for 23.5 years and he went with dignity and peace. I know we did the right thing for him.

I am toasting my dear old campaigner at the moment with my best Christmas present rum and the tears are flowing. My heart aches but I still know we did the right thing for him and not for us.

We will be bringing his ashes home in due course.

Oh Angie

I have a huge lump in my throat typing this and I'm fighting back the tears. I can only imagine how difficult that was for you, and how much you are going to miss that beautiful boy. You did the right thing for him, even though it was the hardest thing for you. ((hugs))

RIP Merlin, run free at the bridge xx

Re: Merlin

Angie, I'm so so so sorry; the tears are flowing for you. He was a grand old boy, he had a long life filled with nothing but love, and a peaceful release from pain with you both there. He was much loved on this forum; I'm sure everyone is grieving with you. (((hugs)))

Play with Smudge again at the Bridge, dear Merlin.

Re: Merlin

I too am moved too tears. Through your stories his character and personality shone through. You did the final, bravest act of all; bless you and your OH because after 23 1/2 years, loosing Merlin must leave an unimaginably large hole in your lives.

I wish you much strength in the coming days and weeks - but I'm sure he will be with you in spirit watching over you.

Much love to you both.
