shrub suggestions

we've moved house and the garden is all lawn. It is on a hill and is pretty exposed.

I'm trying to split it into different 'rooms'. Need some ideas for shrubs that will cope with strong winds. Want somthing that will be a bit of a windbreak. Sited in a corner to be abt 12ft at back coming down to 2/3 feet at front.

Any ideas?

slightly acid soil.

The RHS or BBC websites are great resources with good searches.

Re: shrub suggestions

thanks diskinc, I checked out the RHS and found it really helped. Will try BBC later tonight. Going out for a meal so will depend on how full I am when I get home. Will need to decide whether to walk the dog or sit with feet up!
