Name that "Bug"


I found this monster chap in the garden this morning, does anyone recognise it?

It made no attempt to fly away..

It measures approx 4cms or 1.5 inches in length......

I'm glad they're harmless, I wouldn't have touched it but Cassie was showing a lot of interest in it! ......... to hear her crunch on that would have made me cringe!!!
