Angieh

I've been working on this for you I may add more later can't think now

A Poem for Merlin

You went too quickly
No time to say goodbye
The sickness took hold
There was nothing more that could be done

You’re in the better place
Where there is no pain
Where you can make new friends to play with
We will never forget you
You are still very special to us

We still miss you
They say time is a healer
But nothing can replace you
We just wish things could have gone differently
Wish we could have said a proper goodbye

Re: Angieh

I've started rewriting it now. How about this:

"We knew the end was coming
It was plain to see"

Re: Angieh

How's this angieh?

For Merlin

We knew the end was coming
It was plain to see
Things were not right with you, we knew

You’re in the better place
Where there is no pain
Where you can make new friends to play with
We will never forget you
You are still very special to us

We still miss you
They say time is a healer
But nothing can replace you
We just wish things could have gone differently
Wish you could have stayed with us

But you weren't well, it wasn't fair
To keep you suffering through the days
We chose our moment, said goodbye
Then you'd gone, flown up to Heaven
Where we'll meet you again

Re: Angieh

How sweet of you RCR to do a poem dedicated to precious Merlin
Thank you for sharing it with us - We all thought Merlin was so wonderful

If angieh wants to do a "memory book" for Merlin, then if she wants she can add the poem in.

Got the idea from writing a poem for Beauty.

Re: Angieh

That is a lovely, moving tribute to dear Merlin, who is sorely missed.

Re: Angieh

Thanks for that RCR - it's lovely. I have been collecting things people have said "tributes to Merlin" and am collecting them together. Don't know whether to do a scrapbook on photobucket or what - I've got it on a MS Publisher document atm.

I will certainly put it there - your poem can have a page to itself, with some photos or a border perhaps. I certainly do miss him and I do still have his picture as my screensaver.

Re: Angieh

Angieh - our neighbour has quickly lost both her cats in quick succession, do you mind if I use the poem for her two cats as well (changing it slightly?)
