One of those experience days out sounds nice. How about doing something really out of the ordinary for the new 'pensioner', like Go-Karting ??

Does he enjoy books, music? Or an elegant dinner out at a really nice restaurant?

Does he like the theatre? Maybe a weekend in London, taking in a Show?

That's a good idea, Mags! I think that by the time we've gotten to pensioners age, we pretty much have enough "things". An outing, trip. etc. would be different, appreciated and leave nice memories .....

Re: My Dad's......

Music - er..not really, I bought him a CD for fathers day.
Brandy - no he doesn't drink (except lager)
theatre - sounds good, but I don't think I can stretch to a weekend in london all the shows are at least £50 per ticket & I couldn't send him on his own, and the travelling & the accomodation
Books - he does like reading.
I'll keep thiking - thanks for the ideas

How about a nice ball point pen, you could get it engraved with his name or just initials .......
